TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAM
SHORT TERM OPPORTUNITY TO US SABBATICAL LEAVE
for Teachers in USA of K - 8th classes to Teach in INDIA
As part of its continuing program to impart training to high school teachers, in the use of nonviolence in schools, the International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) started Teaching for Peace Exchange / Sabbatical program in 2018. We had the privilege to host Mrs. Suzzane Maxwell Johar; a teacher from San Diego, USA who last year came to Jain Bharti Mrgavati School in Delhi for three months to teach its K-8 students under this program.
ISJS is now looking for two teachers who have already attended one of our 3 week Teaching for Peace programs during the last seven years or are likely/planning to attend the same in 2019 summer. The selected teachers will be expected to spend a semester in India teaching in one of the two reputed English Medium Jain school in Delhi. The likely subjects are English and Social Science for classes up to 8th standard.
Job Description: The selected candidate will teach one or more classes in:
At the end of the program the candidate shall submit a report including his/her observations and areas for further improvement along with suggestions to extend this program as a truly exchange program amongst the teachers of USA and India.
Job Duration: The teaching period starts from August 1st to October 31st,2019.
Job Perquisites: ISJS will offer to and fro economy class airfare from the place of stay of the candidate in USA to Delhi and project completion bonus of US$ 1000. ISJS will provide a fully furnished air-conditioned room to the candidate selected for the entire duration of the contract. Besides this, three Jain meals comprising breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Round trip local transportation from the place of stay to the school. In addition, a per diem allowance of INR 200 (approx. US$ 3.1) will be given to the candidate for the entire stay for execution of the job.
All other expenses, like visa, travel and health insurance in India, personal needs shall be borne by the candidate.
In addition, the selected candidate shall have the opportunity to interact with teachers from other Jain schools, Jain community leaders also.
