General conditions applicable to ISSJS.2019-4W and ISSJS.2019-6W programs

Eligibility:
  • All participants must be affiliated to a recognized university or college.
  • Applicants having demonstrable interest in Jain or Buddhist studies, South Asian studies, Religions, Philosophy or Anthropology are preferred.
  • Capability to pay the fees and other expenses likely to be incurred.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Specific eligibility criterion mentioned under each program.
  • While this is a non-sectarian program, due to the fact that students will be intimately engaged with the Jain community, applicants must be willing to absorb an insider's view of Jainism and adhere to Jain dietary restrictions and customs while in India.

General conditions applicable to ISSJS.2019-Teaching for Peace

Eligibility:
  • Participants who are currently teaching in K-12 school system are preferred. However other students /faculty members from universities specializing in education, social sciences, psychology are also welcome.
  • Capability to pay the fees and other expenses likely to be incurred.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Specific eligibility criterion mentioned under each program.
  • While this is a non-sectarian program, due to the fact that students will be intimately engaged with the Jain community, applicants must be willing to absorb an insider's view of Jainism and adhere to Jain dietary restrictions and customs while in India.
Admission process:
  • The application can be made on-line by visiting www.isjs.in.
  • The applications can also be made by downloading the application form from www.isjs.in and emailing the application to admission@isjs.in
  • Recommendation letters can be sent by the recommending faculty by email or mail directly to ISJS at admission@isjs.in.
  • Complete application must reach ISJS offices by February 14th, 2019.
Costs to be borne by the attending scholars / students for all programs besides those given under each program:
  • From Airport to place of stay in India and back by taxi or underground train. Private travel within and outside of India.
  • Personal Expenses: phone calls, laundry, toiletries, clothes, souvenirs, medical etc.
  • Upgraded facilities needed (other than provided by ISJS) subject to availability.
  • Vegan food will be available without additional cost, if informed earlier.
  • Stay in India prior to or after the ISSJS schedule for all streams.
  • Alumni of ISSJS are not eligible for any financial assistance from ISJS. They incur all expenses indicated under each program and listed above.
